Dispelling the Myth of Meditation

Do you think that meditation is a bit “new age-y”, Hippy dippy, woo woo or even a bit spiritual or religious?
And have you steered clear of it for some or for all of these reasons?
Are you even a little bit curious about it, despite thinking it’s probably not for you?
If you are then read on….
In very simple terms…
We use gyms, weights, exercise machines and sport to train our bodies through exercise.
We use Meditation as a tool to train our minds.
Some people train their bodies but fewer people train their minds.

Most people’s minds are like wild horses running amok…
struggling to focus
ruminating
procrastinating
worrying
dealing with feelings of overwhelm
In the same way as a horse is “broken in” this is what we’re trying to do when we sit in meditation.
We are training our minds to focus on one thing. And we patiently bring the attention back to that one thing each time.
It is NOT about making your mind you blank.
It is NOT about stopping your thoughts.
These things are impossible.
But with regular practice we take control of our minds and ultimately…
Take back control of our lives.
