Yes at 10,000 feet, I actually fell out of a plane in San Diego.
Skydiving is not actually diving…. it is quite literally falling from a plane.
30 years ago, I did a skydive in Dublin and have always said that it was the most terrifying thing I have ever done and that “I would never do it again”.
Well as they say “never say never”!
So what made me change my mind?
We were on a family holiday to California and during this trip my first-born Max would be turning 18. He said that all he wanted for his 18th was for his mum to do a skydive with him during our holiday.
After my initial objections the short story is … he begged …I buckled .. and we were game on.
So why did I buckle?
It meant so much to my son who I am very close to. I was honoured that he wanted to share this experience with me. He is heading off to university next month and I will miss him. I wanted to do it for him so he would have this special memory.
In summary, my desire outweighed my fear.

As you can see from the photo it did not eliminate my fear!!
But my commitment to my desire was greater than my commitment to my fear.
Was I terrified? Absolutely?
Am I delighted I did it? Absolutely!

Things get easier the more often you do them.
Where in your life are you letting fear hold you back?
Are you committing yourself to your dreams or to your fears?
