Success... have you ever thought about what it is to you and why???

We hear the word “success” used a lot… but how many of you have ever stopped to think about what that actually means to you?

It is so easy to get caught up in the “activity trap” living a “default” life instead of a life you have actually designed.

When have we ever stopped to even question what the word success means to us?

The great Steven Covey talks about becoming a leader instead of a manager in your own life. “Management is doing things right. Leadership is doing the right things”.

But if we haven’t thought about our own vision of success, then how do we even know what the “right things” are?! He talks about how often we just keep climbing up the ladder without realising until too late that the ladder may be leaning against the wrong wall. How many of us have thought about which wall we want the ladder to lean against?

The technical definition of success according to google is “the accomplishment of an aim or purpose”. But how many of us have set out to decide what our purpose or aim should be and why???

These are questions to get you thinking. To stir up emotions because I am passionate about helping people see the importance of living their own life and not the life which was expected of them.

I would love for more people to be brave, to dare greatly and to create a life they are excited about so that at the end of their life they wont have regrets but instead a feeling a pride at having been successful according to their own definition of success.

I would love for more people to know that they stood bravely in the arena of life and didn’t let the critic hold them back (to paraphrase Theodore Roosevelt’s famous quote)

There is so much I’d like to say about this but in my opinion real success is self-mastery. Re-scripting yourself in line with YOUR values. Having victory over self. Knowing yourself and feeling confident that you are able to cope no matter what life throws at you.
