What can we learn from tennis and babies??

I’ve been learning tennis recently and there are so many things to remember

The correct grip for forehand and backhand shots, being side-on to the net, where to hold the racquet, where to position my feet, following-through…..

My coach is great but my rational thinking mind was working so hard to remember all the different things I had to think about.

I’d remember one and then promptly forget the next.

It was becoming so robotic, unnatural and bloody difficult.

And then I read the book the Inner Game of tennis :The Ultimate Guide to the Mental Side of Peak Performance by Timothy Galloway and he inspired me to try a new way to learn.

He talked about teaching your body how to play by watching the coach playing each shot.

And then trying it again and again

Our bodies learn in images not in words

He drew an analogy between a baby learning to walk and how they just keep at it until they get it.

They don’t judge themselves or criticise themselves.

They just keep going.

This is a key life lesson

If we had less internal chatter and negativity and more just “doing” and showing up, just imagine what we could accomplish!

What do you want to achieve in life?

What are you doing right now to show up to that dream?

Is your internal chatter fogging your view?

Please reach out if you would like some help as I am passionate about helping people get out of their own way.
