What do you not know?

Well?????

The truth is that you can’t possibly answer these questions!

What you don’t know you don’t know!! If you can’t see it, then how can you tell me what you can’t see.

Sit with that for a minute. Let it percolate!

And so it is with ourselves and how we see the world.

We have conflict with other people because every single person in this world sees the world through their own unique set of beliefs, prejudices and they have a unique understanding of the world.

Our minds work like a projector and not like a camera as we would like to think. Everything gets filtered through the lens of our beliefs and stories. But everybody’s lens is different!

Before I understood this I really struggled with a few relationships in my life. I used to wind myself up getting so frustrated that they couldn’t see things which were “so clear” to me.

I was the one getting upset because they were equally convinced that they were correct.

In the image below, who is correct? Is it a 6 or is it 9??

The secret to ease in life is to understand that everyone is different and has a different view of the world. As the great Steven Covey said, we should “seek first to understand and only then to be understood”.

Communication in absolutely every situation would be massively improved if only people took the time to do this.
