What is the one bad habit we're ALL guilty of.. but mostly unaware of?

What could it be??
Let me tell you a brief story to illustrate the point
My car broke down twice in the last few days.
On Saturday when the AA man rescued me he told me that the engine wouldn’t start because I had left the lights on for a few minutes. He reassured me that I didn’t need a new battery.
2 days later when it broke down again, a different AA man told me a different story. The battery needed replacing.

Over the 2 days I spent 4 hours in the cold or walking around areas I wouldn’t normally walk around.
Part of me wanted to rant at the AA for causing the second breakdown and blame the idiots who didn’t know what they were doing.
But what good would that have done?
I wouldn’t have felt any better and it wouldn’t have changed the outcome.
The habit I USED to have… was of blaming other people or circumstances for what didn’t work out the way I wanted.
A HABIT OF UNHELPFUL THINKING
What I now try to do is to think of 3 opportunities this challenge presents me with
- I learnt a bit about car batteries, using jump leads and alternators
- I got to listen and concentrate on my audiobook which I’m loving
- I had some really interesting conversations with people in local coffee shops and garages who I would otherwise not have met
None of them earth shattering or life changing but I felt a whole lot better than I would have been had I been ranting at everyone!!!
How can you force your mind down a different route away from unhelpful thought patterns?
Can you start replacing this bad habit with a better one?
